GWO Basic Safety Training (BST)
The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training package is the mandatory safety baseline required for all personnel entering and operating within the wind energy sector.
Course Overview
This multi-module training equips delegates with the crucial foundational skills needed to manage risks, execute self-rescue from heights, administer primary emergency care, and safely navigate wind turbine generator environments.
Core Modules Included
- Working at Heights: Safe use of personal fall protection equipment (PFPE), ladder climbing techniques, and vertical emergency evacuation drills.
- First Aid: Administering lifesaving primary care, managing severe trauma, treating electrical burns, and operating automated external defibrillators (AED).
- Manual Handling: Ergonomic lifting awareness, mechanical load manipulation, and minimizing musculoskeletal injuries in tight turbine hulls.
- Fire Awareness: Understanding fire chemistry, identifying operational hazards, structural smoke evacuation procedures, and hand extinguisher drills.
Course Duration
The complete combined framework runs over 5 consecutive days of integrated theoretical teaching and practical simulation workshops.
Certification Validity
Upon successful validation, data is uploaded directly to the GWO WINDA database. Individual modules remain fully valid for a period of 2 years and require a refresher before expiration.
